Jack Grealish emerged as Everton’s hero with a last-gasp strike in the 93rd minute, sealing a remarkable comeback and ending Crystal Palace’s club-record 19-game unbeaten streak. On loan from Manchester City, the winger was in the right place at the right moment, calmly finishing after Dean Henderson had denied Beto with a reflex save from point-blank range.
The late goal sent Goodison Park into celebration, marking Grealish’s first for the club and securing a vital win against one of the league’s most in-form sides. Palace had been unbeaten in all competitions since 16 April, but their run came to an abrupt halt in dramatic fashion.
Palace in control early on
For much of the first half, Palace were the stronger team, dictating play and threatening regularly. Tyrick Mitchell came close to breaking the deadlock when his shot rebounded off the post, a warning Everton failed to heed.
The visitors eventually took the lead in the 37th minute through Daniel Muñoz. The Colombia international, who had scored in his previous game, found himself unmarked on the right side of the box. Ismaïla Sarr spotted his run and delivered a precise pass, which Muñoz guided past Jordan Pickford. The goal came on the night of Pickford’s milestone 300th Premier League appearance, though it was not one he would have wanted to remember at that stage.
Everton’s second-half surge
Sean Dyche’s side made two substitutions at the break, bringing on teenagers Tyler Dibling and Thierno Barry to inject energy into the attack. The change sparked an improved display after the interval, with Everton pressing higher and moving the ball with greater purpose.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 76th minute when substitute Tim Iroegbunam drew a foul from Maxence Lacroix inside the area. Iliman Ndiaye stepped up and converted the resulting penalty to level the score, shifting the momentum firmly in Everton’s favour.
As the game entered its closing stages, both teams pushed for a winner. Palace looked to protect their record run, while Everton sensed an opportunity to claim all three points. The breakthrough came in stoppage time, when Grealish pounced to cap off the comeback and hand Palace their first defeat in nearly six months.
