The 2026 ZIFA Central Region Soccer League got off to a blistering start, with newcomers Good Morning FC and Sabi Gold Mine FC registering impressive wins.
A total of seven matches were played on Friday, one was played on Saturday, and a total of 12 goals were scored. Newbies Good Morning FC putting up a sterling performance to beat Matobo FC 2-0 at Kotamai Stadium in Kwekwe.
The win, in their maiden league match, was enough to lift them to first position on the log table, as they also achieved a clean sheet. Coached by former Manzini Wanderers’ technical director Julius Chakupewa, Good Morning FC appears to be a new force in the region. How they will fare throughout the season remains to be seen.

At Sabi Mine stadium, former Whawha FC assistant coach Khumbulani Musendeke powered Sabi Gold Mine FC to a 2-0 win over ZRP Gwanda FC, making a good start to their maiden season campaign.
SHABANIE MINE SHOW POWER IN SEASON OPENER
Seasoned campaigners and former PSL giants Shabanie Mine started the season on a good note, beating Gwanda-based Super Strikers FC 2-0 at Maglas Stadium. Super Strikers are newbies in the Central Region Soccer League.
At Ascot stadium, Airforce side Chapungu FC settled for a 0-0 draw with Luke Petros-coached Blanket Mine FC. Army-side Tongogara FC also drew 1-1 with Vhembe Stars Academy FC.
At Dulibadzimu stadium, Dulibadzimu United FC edged newcomers Shurugwi FC 2-1, while 2026 favorites Gwanda Pirates FC drew 0-0 with FC Platinum Under 19 at Phelandaba Stadium.
In the only other match played on Saturday, West Nicholson beat Grain Tigers 1-0 at Phelandaba Stadium, making a decent start to the season.
Grain Tigers are under the leadership of former ZIFA President Felton Kamambo. Meanwhile, the match between Kwekwe United and MSU FC was postponed as the former are unavailable due to the ZUSA games.
