Football is played on the pitch, not in the stands,” Maruwa unfazed by potential big crowd at Rufaro against CAPS

TelOne coach Hebert ‘Jompano’ Maruwa is not reading much into the possibility of there being a big crowd at Rufaro Stadium cheering CAPS United, when the two sides meet in a Castle Lager Premiership match on Saturday.

The WiFi Boys, who extended their unbeaten run to five matches when they edged relegation-threatened Dynamos 1-0 last week, face a CAPS side hoping to return to winning ways following their 1-1 stalemate with Triangle.

TelOne’s form excites Maruwa, as the youthful coach boldly declared that his charges are now challenging for the championship.

Maruwa’s men will be oozing with confidence as the last time they were at Rufaro, they beat a star-studded Scottland 1-0, courtesy of a Panashe Mutasa wonder strike.

As TelOne prepare to face CAPS without the league’s top goal scorer, Washington Navaya, who is suspended, Maruwa doesn’t think the possibility of a big crowd backing the Harare giants will impact the game.

“Football is played on the field of play, not in the stands,” said Maruwa.

“We are playing another big game. Last weekend we played another big game, against one of the biggest teams in the country, and it’s the same this time.

“CAPS United are doing well under their new Zambian coach, but we are not taking this game lightly,” added Maruwa.

The former Dynamos coach expects his charges to get a victory over CAPS, despite the respect he has for the Green Machine.

“We need to go there with a positive mind and get the three points because morale in our camp is very high,” said Maruwa.

A win for TelOne will not only underline their title credentials but can also ensure CAPS’ return in the relegation matrix.
