Finia makes winning debut for DeMbare, aiming higher

‎Idrissou Nfor Finia’s Zimbabwean debut was a resounding success, keeping a clean sheet in Dynamos’ 2-0 victory over Bulawayo Chiefs in a Week 3 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter played yesterday at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

‎The highly rated goalkeeper, signed from Colombe Sportive FC, which plays in the Cameroon Elite One league, made a strong start between the sticks as Dembare emerged victorious yesterday.

The ‘Mr Clean Sheet’ nickname, earned in Cameroon, seems to be travelling with him.

‎In an exclusive interview with Fanzone, Finia expressed his delight, saying, “I’m very excited and happy, I think the result we had today is the work of me and my teammates. It is a privilege for me to play my first game here in Zimbabwe.”

‎Finia, who won the golden glove award in Cameroon for two consecutive seasons, is eager to replicate his success in Zimbabwe.

As he puts it, “With this season in Zimbabwe, Dynamos is a big team here, so I think coming in, people will get to know who I am because I’m used to clean sheets, in Cameroon they call me Mr Clean Sheet.”

‎Attributing his past success to hard work, Finia is focused on new challenges with the Harare giants. “It is all about hard work, last season with my club in Cameroon I broke the record for the most clean sheets in the league, so I was nominated as the best goalkeeper, but that was in my country, now in Zimbabwe this is a new challenge so I have to keep up working hard to make sure that the same thing I did in my country I should perform here in Zimbabwe,” he explained.

‎Dembare supporters swarmed Finia after the game, showing their appreciation, and in response, he said, “I want to thank all the supporters for their encouragement, that’s what pushes us so I really appreciate the supporters, I am very grateful for the warm welcome,” added Finia.
