FIFA slaps Dynamos with transfer ban

World governing body FIFA has piled more misery on Dynamos by slapping the troubled Harare giants with a transfer ban over a debt owed to two players.

DeMbare, who have had arguably their worst start to a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season in over a decade, having won just one of their opening 13 matches, were hoping to beef up their squad in the upcoming transfer window for recently appointed coach Saul Chaminuka to have more options.

But that plan has hit a snag, amid revelations that they won’t be able to sign and register players until they pay the debts owed to the Ghanaian duo of Emmanuel Paga and Fredrick Ansa-Botchway.

Paga and Botchway owed US$8500 and US$10 000, respectively, in outstanding signing-on fees.

The two players have since moved to Manica Diamonds and Scottland, respectively.

While no official communication has been made by Dynamos, sources privy to ongoing at the cash-strapped Harare giants revealed that Paga and Botchway unsuccessfully engaged the club on several occasions seeking a solution before they were left with no option but to take the case to FIFA.

DeMbare might have another case to answer, as Namibian striker Sadney Urikhob, who has since moved to Scottland, is owed US$10,000 and also took his case to FIFA.

Dynamos were last year forced to pay their former striker Evans Gwekerere US$17,000 after the player took his case to FIFA, leading to DeMbare’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup being uncertain.

DeMbare’s old foes Highlanders were also in a similar situation earlier this year, having been owing their former coach Baltemar Brito before they were bailed out by businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
