FC Platinum’s winless run continues as MWOS shoot to the top of the table

FC Platinum’s winless run continues, as they were held to a goalless draw by Kwekwe United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Bata Stadium on Saturday.

Norman Mapeza’s charges failed to score for the second game in succession, following last week’s goalless stalemate with new boys MWOS at Mandava.

Before the international break, the Platinum miners were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Chicken Inn.

FC Platinum, who have scored only two goals this season, are now 8th on the log standings, having amassed seven points from five matches.

MWOS’ dream start to life in the Premiership continues after they edged a battling ZPC Kariba 1-0 at the Baobab Stadium.

In-form Billy Veremu scored his third goal of the season, and it was enough for the Punters to collect maximum points and move back to the summit of the table.

Lloyd Mutasa’s men boast of the best defense in the league, having conceded just one goal so far, with goalkeeper Martin Mapisa on three clean sheets.

Elsewhere, Scottland returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 over Bikita Minerals at Rufaro.

Tonderai Ndiraya’s men had dropped points in their previous two matches against Ngezi Platinum Stars (loss) and Highlanders (draw).

At Wadzanai, defending champions Simba Bhora sustained second-half pressure to hold on for a hard-fought 1-0 victory over TelOne.

Namibian striker Isaskar Gurirab got the all important winner for Joey Luphahla’s troops, who recorded their second victory of the season in the process.
