Fanzone Team of the Week: Matchday 16

Matchday 16 delivered plenty of quality across the league, with goalkeepers making crucial saves, defenders standing firm under pressure, and attackers producing moments of brilliance to decide matches. Several players produced match-winning performances, earning their place in this week’s Fanzone Team of the Week.
Goalkeeper
Chris Mverechena (TelOne) – Mverechena was outstanding between the posts, producing a series of excellent saves, particularly in the second half against Highlanders. His heroics ensured TelOne held firm and secured a memorable result.
Defenders
Wilmore Chimbetu (Herentals) – A composed and disciplined display from Chimbetu, who defended well throughout and helped keep things organised at the back.
Jameson Masaza (Bulawayo Chiefs) – A Man of the Match performance from Masaza, who was dominant defensively and played a key role in keeping opposition attackers quiet.
Tino Muringai (Hardrock) – Consistency was the theme of Muringai’s performance. He was solid throughout the match, winning important duels and providing stability in defence.
Midfielders
Clive Kangwari (MWOS) – One of the standout performers of the weekend. Kangwari put together a near-perfect display, controlling the tempo of the game and contributing at both ends of the pitch.
Chelsea Nyakope (TelOne) – Nyakope delivered the decisive moment for TelOne, scoring the goal that secured their first home victory of the season against Highlanders. His influence in midfield was equally impressive.
Donald Mudadi (Hardrock) – Another classy display from Mudadi, who controlled possession, created opportunities, and linked play effectively throughout the match.
Tadiwa Huni (FC Hunters) – Huni worked tirelessly in midfield and played a major role in driving his team forward with an energetic and disciplined performance.
Forwards
Elder Chirima (FC Hunters) – Chirima was outstanding in attack, causing problems for defenders all game long with his movement, pace, and attacking threat.
Washington Navaya (Hardrock) – The striker continued his impressive season with a clinical brace. Navaya’s finishing and positioning were once again on full display as he led the line superbly.
Knowledge Musona (Scottland) – A vintage performance from Musona. He scored a brace, including a brilliant free-kick goal, and was at the heart of everything positive Scottland produced going forward.
Matchday 16 showcased some of the league’s biggest talents stepping up when their teams needed them most. From Mverechena’s heroics in goal to Musona’s magic in attack, these players produced performances worthy of recognition and continue to raise the standard of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
