West Ham has brought back Lukasz Fabianski on a contract running until the conclusion of the current campaign.
The 40-year-old ex-Poland keeper had departed in June after his previous agreement expired, having first joined the London club from Swansea in 2018.
During his earlier spell, he played 216 matches and was part of the team that lifted the Europa Conference League trophy in 2023.
Fabianski outlines his role in the squad
“I’m delighted to return because this club means a great deal to me,” Fabianski said.
He added that he is ready to prioritize the team’s interests over personal ambitions, explaining that he hopes to contribute positively to the group’s environment.
“I want to support, help maintain high standards, and share my experience. My approach will stay the same, but I know my responsibilities are now different,” he said.
West Ham reshape their goalkeeping options
In August, the club secured Leicester’s Mads Hermansen for around £20m, and he has featured in their opening three league fixtures, winning once and losing twice.
Alphonse Areola played in the 3-2 Carabao Cup loss at Wolves, while Wes Foderingham, signed as a free agent in June, joined Aris Limassol on Tuesday.
Manager Graham Potter said Fabianski’s return strengthens the squad, calling him “a top goalkeeper and a top professional” and the ideal fit for the role needed.
