Crystal Palace have reached an understanding with Villarreal to sign Spain international Yeremy Pino in a transfer valued at up to £26m.
The 22-year-old attacker is open to a move to Selhurst Park and is due to undergo medical checks in the coming days. Although his current contract includes a £69m release clause, Villarreal have accepted Palace’s proposal with fewer than two years left on his deal.
Pino, who joined Villarreal in 2017 after progressing at Las Palmas, broke into the senior side in 2020. He netted four times in 34 La Liga matches last season as the club finished fifth and secured Champions League football. Since his international debut in 2021, he has struck three goals in 15 appearances for Spain.
Palace rebuild after Eze’s departure
The move comes soon after Eberechi Eze completed a £60m switch to Arsenal. The 27-year-old was crucial in Palace’s campaign last year, delivering 14 goals and 11 assists across 43 matches as the team lifted the FA Cup, their first major honor.
Head coach Oliver Glasner, speaking after the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the weekend, stressed he was “very confident” further arrivals would follow before Monday’s deadline.
So far, Palace have added only two players this summer: goalkeeper Walter Benitez, who arrived from PSV Eindhoven on a free, and defender Borna Sosa, signed from Ajax for £3m.
Further defensive reinforcements targeted
The Eagles are also pursuing Manchester City center-back Manuel Akanji. The 30-year-old Swiss international has been valued at £15m by his current club.
With Pino expected to join shortly, Palace aim to strengthen both ends of the pitch as they reshape their squad ahead of the new season.
