Excitement is brewing across the country as the draw for the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup has been officially revealed this afternoon. The knockout tournament, sponsored by Chibuku, promises high drama, surprise upsets, and intense rivalries — all with a coveted ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup on the line.
The Chibuku Super Cup has long been a fan favourite, bringing clubs from across the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League together in a win-or-go-home format. Last year’s final between Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum Stars ended in thrilling fashion, with Dynamos clinching the trophy on penalties. However, despite booking a place in the CAF Confederation Cup, the Harare giants were unable to take up their spot due to financial difficulties — a stark reminder of the growing need for corporate investment in Zimbabwean football.
This year’s draw has thrown up some tantalising fixtures. One of the standout ties sees Premier League newcomers MWOS FC go head-to-head with giants CAPS United. MWOS have impressed in their debut top-flight season, and will relish the opportunity to take on one of the country’s most established clubs in what is expected to be a tightly-contested encounter.
Defending league champions Ngezi Platinum Stars face Triangle/Kwekwe (preliminary match) in their opening tie, while traditional powerhouse Highlanders and Chicken Inn face Herentals College and ZPC Kariba respectively. Meanwhile, Simba Bhora could face Dynamos — if the Glamour Boys get past Yadah in their preliminary showdown.
