Zimbabwe’s national sevens team, the Cheetahs, have named a powerful 12-man squad for the 2025 Rugby Africa Sevens Cup set for the 21st and 22nd of June in Mauritius — and anticipation is sky-high.
Head coach Ricky Chirengende has stuck with a solid core, retaining key names such as Godfrey Magaramombe, Ryan Musumhi, Tapiwa Malenga and Carlos Matematema. Youth will also be on display with rising talents Dion Khumalo, Edward Sigauke and Munashe Dukuswa — currently playing for Tuks in South Africa — all featuring.
Zimbabwe has been drawn in Pool C alongside hosts Mauritius, Tunisia, and Madagascar. With only the top two progressing to the knockouts, every match is high stakes. But the reward is huge: not only continental glory but also a shot at the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series and a potential pathway to Olympic qualification.
The Cheetahs last lifted the Africa Sevens title in 2012, and this squad looks ready to make history repeat itself. Zimbabwean fans will be hoping this explosive mix of experience and youth brings the trophy home.
