CAPS United coach Ian Bakala cut a forlorn figure after the Harare giants were stunned 2-1 by relegation-threatened Yadah at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.
Goals from either side of the break from Innocent Mucheneka and Tanaka Chikumba were enough for the Miracle Boys to pile more misery on CAPS, who got their consolation in the 90th minute from Kennedy Mupomba.
Bakala’s charges have won only one of their six league matches and were also booted out of the Chibuku Super Cup by MWOS.
The Zambian mentor put on a brave face after the final whistle, but his worries were telling.
He blames injuries for the recent string of poor results.
“I think it wasn’t a good game, looking at our team. We are passing through a difficult phase because we are having so many injuries,” said Bakala.
“For this game, we also had injuries to players who could have played it. Looking at where we are, we are not okay, but we just have to keep working and hope that this coming week, everyone will be available,” added Bakala.
The former midfielder replaced Lloyd Chitembwe in the CAPS dugout back in May, when the former cup kings were languishing in 15th place on the table.
Despite yesterday’s defeat resulting in CAPS slumping into the relegation matrix as only a point now separates them from 16th-placed Manica Diamonds, Bakala insists there is progress since his arrival.
“There is an improvement despite the injury problems we have had for the past month or so. Each game, there is always a player who can’t take part because of an injury setback,” Bakala said.
“The team is not balanced, but we hope that next week everyone will be around,” he added.
