CAPS United Slip Further After 2-1 Defeat to FC Platinum

CAPS United’s struggles in the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League continued yesterday, as they slumped to a 2-1 home defeat against FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium. The loss marks their sixth of the season from nine matches, with only two wins and one draw to show—a worrying return for a club with such a proud history.

From the outset, it was the visitors who dictated the pace. FC Platinum looked more organised, sharper in possession and hungry to exploit CAPS’ defensive frailties. Their early pressure paid off with a goal in the first half, sending the travelling supporters into celebration while the home fans grew increasingly restless.

To their credit, CAPS responded swiftly after the break, finding the equaliser in the 46th minute in a moment that briefly lifted spirits in the green and white stands. But the momentum couldn’t be sustained. Although both sides tightened up and avoided risky play, CAPS couldn’t create enough meaningful chances to take the lead.

Then, in the 76th minute, a lapse in communication and poor positioning at the back gifted FC Platinum the winning goal. It was another frustrating example of the lack of defensive discipline that has plagued CAPS all season.

With this result, CAPS now sit 16th on the table, dangerously close to the relegation zone. If there isn’t a turnaround soon, a once-celebrated club could find itself fighting to stay in the top flight.

Will CAPS United be able to steady the ship before it’s too late?
