Calvert-Lewin agrees Leeds move after Everton exit

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the verge of joining Leeds United after accepting terms with the club. The forward, who previously played for Everton, is expected to undergo a medical before finalizing the move. Leeds, newly promoted to the Premier League, will add him to their attacking roster without paying a transfer fee.

The 28-year-old ended his long association with Everton in June, describing his departure as a very tough choice. He had been part of the squad for nine years, following his arrival from Sheffield United in 2016 for £1.5m. Over that time, he registered 71 goals in 273 appearances.

Career highlights and challenges

Calvert-Lewin’s most productive league campaign came in 2020-21, when he found the net 16 times in 33 matches. That form earned him a place in the England side that finished runners-up at the European Championship in the same year.

However, subsequent seasons brought setbacks in both performance and fitness. In 2024-25, he was on the pitch for just over half of the 26 games he featured in. His international record remains unchanged since 2021, with 11 caps and four goals.

Leeds’ forward options this season

Leeds currently have Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha available in attack. Patrick Bamford has been informed he will not feature in manager Daniel Farke’s plans for the campaign, while Mateo Joseph has moved to Mallorca on loan.

The addition of Calvert-Lewin is expected to strengthen competition in the final third as the club prepares for its first season back in the top flight.
