Brentford seal record move for Ouattara

Brentford have finalized an agreement to sign Bournemouth attacker Dango Ouattara in a transfer worth up to £42.5m, the most expensive in the club’s history.

The 23-year-old is scheduled to head to London on Friday to complete his medical checks. Sources close to the player revealed he had been keen to depart after a limited role at Vitality Stadium.

Ouattara, who represents Burkina Faso at the international level, netted nine times across 37 matches in all competitions for the Cherries last season.

Other clubs’ transfer dealings

Earlier, Nottingham Forest had been tracking Ouattara, but they have since settled on a £37.5m agreement with Ipswich Town for England Under-21 wide player Omari Hutchinson.

Brentford, meanwhile, had previously made a £35m approach for Hutchinson, which Ipswich rejected last month.

Possible impact on Wissa’s future

It is still uncertain whether bringing in Ouattara will lead to forward Yoane Wissa leaving the west London side.

On Thursday, manager Keith Andrews confirmed that Wissa would miss their Premier League curtain-raiser at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with questions lingering over his situation.

Newcastle United had a proposal of £25m plus £5m in bonuses for the 28-year-old turned down.
