Northern Region Soccer League side side Banket United are facing the possibility of being kicked out of the Northern Region Soccer League amid revelations that they are struggling to pay an affiliation fee.
The cash-strapped outfit has been given up to Friday afternoon to pay the fee, believed to be in the region of US$5000, or risk losing their slot in the league.
Banket have reportedly resorted to ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi as their last option, as the Harare businessman was reportedly their patron and entered the ZIFA election race on a Banket ticket.
The Martin Kweza-led administration has already demonstrated their seriousness on the need for professionalism and expelling Centenary for failure to pay affiliation fees.
The 2025 Northern Region Soccer League season roars into life on the weekend of 4-6 April.
Ambitious N’ombeyaora, MWOS U-19, Ali Sundowns, Black Rhinos and Harare City, are some the teams expected to fight for the sole ticket to the Premier Soccer League.
Kweza and company will be hoping this season will be controversy-free, after last year’s chaos which saw Scottland getting promoted through a disputed boardroom decision which saw the Scott Sakupwanya-owned side being awarded three points for their abandoned match against Karoi United.
