Bulawayo Beach Volleyball Series 1 set to serve up excitement at Hillside Teachers College

The sand at Hillside Teachers College is already humming with excitement as the dates for the Bulawayo Beach Volleyball Series 1 (BBVB 1) draw near.

From February 21 to 22, 2026, the college grounds will be transformed into an arena for beach volleyball enthusiasts.

The tournament will kick off with teams competing in the open men’s, open women’s, and open mixed doubles categories. Each squad is required to pay a $10 affiliation fee to participate in the competition run by the Bulawayo Volleyball Association (BVA).

Speaking to Fanzone, Bulawayo Beach Volleyball Chairman, Munyaradza Chigudu, said, “This is the first series we’re holding at the Teachers College, and it’s open to everyone – social volleyballers, professionals, youth. Registration is ongoing. We say teams can be all-female, all-male, or mixed, which we call mixed doubles teams. Registration is open in that manner.”

“The tournament will be played in an elimination format, but that will depend on how many teams register. It’s going to run throughout the weekend. Everyone is ready, from admin to officials,” added Chigudu.

“I’m happy that as an association, we have qualified officials who can officiate beach volleyball as well as administrators. We invite everyone to come with their summer shades, camp chairs and enjoy our beautiful sport,” he said .
