2025 Castle Lager Premiership title race: An intriguing prospect

The 2025 Castle Lager Premiership Match Soccer League title race is likely to go down to the wire.

As it stands, after 22 rounds of fixtures, mathematically, any of the teams in the top six can win it.

Defending champions Simba Bhora are on top, with 43 points, two clear of second-placed surprise packages MWOS.

Third-placed Scottland, after yesterday’s 1-0 success over Bikita Minerals, have now won three games in a row and are firmly back in the title race.

Crucially for Mabviravira, they have now won two consecutive matches away from Harare, something they rarely managed to do in the first half of the season.

Former champions FC Platinum are also crawling back into the title matrix after 3 consecutive wins.

Norman Mapeza’s charges occupy fourth spot with 37 points, having been awarded three points on a 3-0 scoreline for their abandoned match against Dynamos.

Fifth-placed TelOne are also very much in it.

The WiFi Boys are on an unbeaten run stretching up to seven matches, and their recent 2-0 victory over log leaders Simba Bhora underlined their title credentials.

Hebert Maruwa’s charges have beaten Dynamos, Simba and Scottland, and the soft-spoken has publicly declared they are challenging for the championship.

“For you to be champions, you have to beat the champions. As TelOne, we have our targets, and our target is to win the big one,” said Maruwa after the victory over Simba.

Former champions Ngezi are also in the mix.

Madamburo has amassed 35 points from 22 matches and can never be excluded in the title race.
